Trace Panda

Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 July 2026

Trace Panda is an app and website for practicing Chinese characters. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it deliberately small: the app is built to work without an account, and we only store what is needed to sync your progress when you choose to sign in.

What we collect

If you use the app without an account, your profiles and practice progress stay on your device. We don't collect them.

If you create an account, we store:

How we use it

We use this information solely to provide the app: to sign you in and to sync your profiles, progress, and lists across your devices. We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not use third-party analytics or tracking to build a profile of you.

Children's privacy

Trace Panda is designed to be used by a parent or guardian together with their children. Accounts are created and controlled by an adult; children do not create their own accounts. The learner "profiles" within an account are just labels (a name and emoji) chosen by the adult and can be anything you like. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Where your data lives

Account and sync data is stored using our infrastructure providers (Cloudflare and Turso). It is transmitted over encrypted connections.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app: open Account → Delete account and confirm with your password. This immediately and permanently removes your account and all synced data — profiles, progress, custom lists, and preferences — from our servers. Any progress stored locally on your own device is left untouched and keeps working offline.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app or on this site.
